About the Lab

Cross-referencing

growing created 2026-10-02

Two ways to connect notes, both checked at build time — a link to a slug that does not exist fails the build:

  1. Inline wikilinks: [[slug]] renders the target's title; [[slug|custom text]] uses your own wording.
  2. related: frontmatter: slugs that belong together without being mentioned in the prose.

Links go one way, backlinks are free

A connection is written once, from either side. Every page then shows Links to (outgoing) and Linked from (incoming) on its own. Try it: pick a direction and watch which edges light up around the middle note.

Note A This note Note B This note links to Note B → B lists it under “Linked from”.
Edges point from the note that contains the link to its target.

Wikilinks work inside hand-written HTML pages too, such as the one describing How the Lab works. Tags group notes by topic under /tags/.
